Terms & Conditions

Last updated: 01/09/2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Active Dog Behaviour when you use this website or join The Active Dog Academy. Please read them before you start your trial. By starting a trial or using the website, you accept them.

1. Who we are

  • Business: Active Dog Behaviour
  • Address: Serenite, La Mine Doree, Rue De La Boullerie, St. Andrew,
    Guernsey, GY6 8XQ,
  • Email: activedogbehaviour@gmail.com
  • Phone: 07781 424013

We are based in the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

2. What these terms cover

These terms cover this website and The Active Dog Academy, our online membership.

3. What the Academy is

The Active Dog Academy is a subscription that gives you access to a library of video lessons and written guides about dog training and behaviour, for as long as your membership is active. New lessons are added from time to time.

It is a library of general educational material. It is not a personalised training plan, and it is not a substitute for working with a trainer or a vet on your particular dog. Please read section 10 before you rely on anything in it.

4. Who can join

You must be at least 18 years old and able to enter into a contract to join the Academy. By signing up you confirm that you are.

5. Your account

You create an account with your name, email address and a password.

  • Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account.
  • One person, one account. Do not share your login. Membership is personal to you and not transferable.
  • Tell us as soon as you can if you think someone else has got into your account.
  • Keep your email address up to date. It is how we send you receipts, reminders and anything important about your membership.

6. Your free trial

New members get a 7-day free trial.

  • You give your payment details when you sign up, but nothing is charged during the trial.
  • If you do nothing, the trial rolls into a paid membership at the end of the seven days and the first payment is taken then.
  • If you cancel before the trial ends, you are not charged at all.
  • The trial is one per person. We may withdraw it if it is being used repeatedly to get free access.

7. Price and payment

  • Membership is £30 per month, including any tax that applies.
  • Payment is taken by PayPal. You can pay with a PayPal account or with a debit or credit card. We never see or store your card details.
  • The subscription renews automatically every month on the same date until you cancel it. That is how a subscription works, and by starting your trial you are agreeing to the recurring charge.
  • Prices can change. If we change the price, we will tell you by email at least 30 days before it applies to you, and you are free to cancel before it does.

8. If a payment fails

If a payment does not go through, PayPal will try again over the following weeks. We will email you to let you know.

Your access is not cut off straight away — a failed payment is usually an expired card rather than a decision. If the payment still has not gone through after PayPal has finished retrying, the subscription ends and your access stops. You can re-subscribe at any time.

9. Cancelling

You can cancel at any time from your account page. What happens to your access and to money already paid is set out in our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these terms.

10. Training advice, and what you are responsible for

  • The lessons are general educational content, prepared for a general audience. They are not advice about your dog.
  • Every dog is different. What works in a video may not suit your dog, your household or your circumstances.
  • You remain responsible for your dog at all times — for their safety, for the safety of other people and animals, and for your own safety while you train.
  • If your dog has bitten, or has injured or threatened a person or another animal, or if you are dealing with aggression, do not rely on the Academy. Get in-person, qualified help. Contact us or another qualified behaviourist directly.
  • If there is any chance a behaviour has a medical cause — pain, illness, a sudden change in behaviour, anything that worries you — see a vet first. Behaviour work on a dog in pain does not work and is not fair on the dog.
  • We do not guarantee any particular result. Training outcomes depend on the dog, the handler, consistency and time, none of which we control.
  • Nothing in the Academy is veterinary advice, and we are not a substitute for a vet.

You are also responsible for complying with any law that applies to you and your dog, including dog control and welfare law in your jurisdiction.

11. What you may and may not do with the content

While your membership is active, we give you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to watch the videos and read the guides for your own use with your own dogs.

You may not:

  • share, sell, sub-licence or publish any part of the content
  • download, record, screen-capture or copy the videos
  • share your login, or let anyone else use your account
  • use the content to teach, train or advise other people's dogs commercially
  • upload the content anywhere, including social media, or use it to build a competing product

All the content — videos, written guides, images, the site itself — belongs to Active Dog Behaviour or is used with permission. Your membership buys access, not ownership.

If you break this section we may end your membership immediately, and you will not be refunded.

12. Acceptable use of the website

Do not attempt to break into the site, get around the member area, disrupt it, scrape it, or use it for anything unlawful.

13. Availability and changes to the Academy

We aim to keep the Academy available, but we cannot promise it will never be down. Hosting, maintenance and the occasional fault are facts of life on the internet.

We may add, change or remove individual lessons. The membership is access to the library as it stands, not a promise that any particular lesson will stay in it forever. If we make a substantial reduction to what the membership offers, we will tell members by email.

14. Ending your membership from our side

We may suspend or end your membership if you break these terms, in particular section 11, or if payment is not made.

If we end your membership because you broke these terms, we do not refund the current period. If we end it for any other reason, we will refund the unused part of the period you have paid for.

15. Our liability

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or for fraud, or for anything else that cannot be limited by law.

Subject to that:

  • We are not liable for the outcome of any training you carry out, for your dog's behaviour, or for any injury, damage or loss arising from following general educational content. Section 10 explains why.
  • We are not liable for indirect or consequential loss.
  • Our total liability to you in any 12-month period is limited to the amount you paid us for your membership in that period.

The Academy is provided on the basis set out in these terms. We do not give any other warranty about it beyond what the law requires us to.

16. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. If we do, we will change the date at the top of this page, and if the change is significant we will tell members by email before it takes effect. Continuing to use your membership after that means you accept the updated terms.

17. General

  • If any part of these terms turns out to be unenforceable, the rest still stands.
  • If we do not enforce something straight away, that does not mean we have given it up.
  • You may not transfer your rights under these terms to anyone else. We may transfer ours if the business is sold, and your rights will not be reduced by that.
  • These terms are the whole agreement between us about the Academy.

18. Law and jurisdiction

These terms, and any dispute arising out of them, are governed by the law of the Bailiwick of Guernsey, and the Royal Court of Guernsey has jurisdiction.
